Tradition

(Paradosis)

The living transmission of the faith of the Church—Scripture, Creed, Liturgy, councils, Fathers—not as static preservation of the past but as its continual reception and re-reception by each generation in the life of the Holy Spirit. Tradition is not opposed to interpretation but requires it: what is handed on must become existentially present.
