Brazilian Edition of Zizioulas’ Lectures in Christian Dogmatics
The John Zizioulas Foundation is pleased to announce the release of the Brazilian Portuguese edition of Lectures in Christian Dogmatics by Metropolitan John D. Zizioulas, titled Lições de dogmática cristã. This important volume was published in June 2025 and is now available to Portuguese-speaking readers throughout Brazil and beyond.
Metropolitan Zizioulas, one of the most influential Orthodox theologians of the 20th and 21st centuries, presents in this book a clear and compelling exploration of the foundational doctrines of the Christian faith, as formulated in the early Ecumenical Councils. With his characteristic clarity and depth, Zizioulas examines Trinitarian, Christological, and eschatological teachings, always emphasizing their relevance for contemporary life and the concrete human experience.
The present volume contains material from Zizioulas' lectures on Christian Dogmatics, which were given to students of theology in the Universities of Edinburgh (1970-1973), Glasgow (1973-1987), London (King's College 1984, 1989-1998), and, finally, Thessalonica (1984-1998). The true genius of this book is that it lays out complex ideas with utmost simplicity, whilst illustrating the grandeur of Christian teaching and providing a profound exploration of human freedom.
We warmly congratulate the entire editorial team and Brazilian readers on this important theological milestone and express our hope that this edition will deepen theological reflection and dialogue across the Lusophone world.
