A collection of texts on prayer and spiritual life by Eastern Christian masters from the 4th to the 15th centuries, compiled by St. Nikodemos of the Holy Mountain and St. Makarios of Corinth (published 1782). Its 20th-century revival contributed to the renewal of Orthodox ascetical and hesychast theology.
