(Apophatic Theology)
The approach to theology that insists God’s essence is absolutely unknowable and transcends all human concepts and language. The Greek Fathers affirmed that while God’s essence remains beyond comprehension, He is truly known and encountered through His persons and energies. Apophaticism guards against reducing God to an object of rational analysis.
